What is Osteopathy ?

Osteopathy is a holistic medicine, which incorporate evidence-based natural healing. This is a manual therapy based on medical science (anatomy, biomechanics, physiology…) and holistic philosophy discovered by the founder of Osteopathy (A.T. Still). One of our core principles is the ability of the body to self-heal. The Osteopath only uses his hands to “listen” to what’s going on in the patient’s body and what might be the cause of the pain. The treatment is always an individualized one since everyone is different. By using his skilled hands and gentle techniques, the Osteopath is going to help the self-healing forces to express themselves again, so normal function, balance and harmony are restored in the patient. Contrary to common ideas, the osteopath doesn’t only treat joins pains and diseases.

About your Osteopath

Beyond the fact that the physical body is wonderful by the way everything has its on purpose and gives us the ability to live, I was even more fascinated by the connections between the body and the emotions. During my studies, I often came to my teachers practice to observe them treating. Most of the time I noticed that beyond the physical pain, there was always an emotional pain underlying. Most interesting, while easing the physical pain, the emotional pain was soothed too! Many scientific surveys showed evidences about those connections. We are not just a body with a mind, we are a wonderful and perfect blend of a body, a mind, a spirit and emotions. A soul incarnated. That is what makes us human being. So I wandered : When the origins of a pain is more of an emotional level but the phyical pain is real, can Osteopathy help people on the physical and emotional level? Can Osteopathy be a door to help people going through emotional pain which manifest on a physical level? Or to say it differently: By easing patient on a physical level using Osteopathy, is it a way to break free from others psycho-emotional patterns? With those questions in mind, I decided to explore more that area and I chose to study the effects of Osteopathy on women who had a medical abortion (because the fetus wouldn't be able to live) as the subject of my report to complete my 5 year full time program (5000+ hours). And indeed, physical pain looked like the same has women who had “normal” pregnancy and delivery, but the emotional pain was huge. Osteopathic treatments helped those women to go through those massive traumas. Treating by a loving healing touch, is a gentle way to reconnect those traumatized parts of the body, and feel at peace, in harmony with one self. After my qualification in 2013 from the Institut Supérieur de l'Ostéopathie Paris-Est, I kept on searching a way to help patients even more. So I have turned to Flower Essences Remedies such as Bach Flowers Remedies. Those remedies are like “keys” which unlock the door (releasing specific emotional states) so the inherent healing forces within the body flow again. Lately (summer 2017), I went to California to study more Flower Essences Remedies and was trained at the Flower Essence Society.
